If you're a Republican voter in Kennett Square, Kennett Township, or New Garden Township, you might be wondering what you can do to help our party succeed in the 2026 midterm elections. The good news? You don't need to be a political insider, campaign expert, or full-time volunteer to make a real difference. This guide is for everyday Republicans like you—busy people with jobs, families, and limited time who still want to contribute to winning elections in our community.

Why Your Involvement Matters Now

The numbers tell an important story. Chester County had 396,121 registered voters in the 2024 election, with Democrats slightly outnumbering Republicans at 163,285 to 157,249. Another 75,569 voters registered as independent or third-party. In the 2024 presidential election, Chester County voted 56% for Harris and 42.55% for Trump.

These numbers show we're in a competitive environment, but they also reveal opportunity. With nearly 76,000 independent voters in our county and relatively close registration numbers, every conversation matters. Every new voter registered makes a difference. Every person who shows up to vote could tip the balance in a close race.

What's at Stake in 2026

Pennsylvania's 2026 elections will include races for:

  • Governor of Pennsylvania;

  • all 17 U.S. House seats from Pennsylvania;

  • 25 of 50 Pennsylvania State Senate seats; and,

  • all 203 Pennsylvania State House seats.

Governor Josh Shapiro is up for reelection, with State Treasurer Stacy Garrity as the leading Republican candidate for Governor. Primary elections will be held on May 19, 2026, and the general election on November 3, 2026.

The stakes are high. Democrats currently hold a one-seat majority in the State House, while Republicans maintain a narrow two-seat advantage in the State Senate. Control of both chambers hangs in the balance, and races right here in Chester County could determine which party's priorities advance in Harrisburg. Your vote, and your efforts to encourage others to vote, genuinely matter.

What You Can Do: Simple Actions That Make a Difference

Not everyone can be a full-time political volunteer, and that's okay. Here are practical ways everyday Republicans can make a difference right now, no matter how limited your time or experience:

If You Have 5 Minutes

Register to vote and verify your registration. Visit www.pavoterservices.pa.gov to ensure your registration is current and accurate. The last day to register for the 2026 general election is October 19, 2026.

Update your voter registration if you've moved. Even if you moved within the same township, update your address to ensure you can vote at the correct polling location.

Sign up for updates. Visit https://ksqareagop.com/#stay-in-touch sign up for our Free Newsletter to receive information about local Republican events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to stay engaged.

Follow local Republican organizations on social media. Stay informed about events, candidates, and issues affecting your community. Share relevant posts to help spread the message.

If You Have 30 Minutes

Attend one township or school board meeting this year. Show up, listen, and let elected officials know you're paying attention. Your presence matters.

Check out our meeting calendar at: https://www.ksqareagop.com/events

Write a letter to the editor. Local newspapers still carry weight. Share your perspective on local issues in a respectful, fact-based way.

Have a conversation with a friend or neighbor. Don't lecture—just share your perspective on why you support Republican candidates and listen to theirs. Genuine conversations change minds more than any campaign ad.

Donate to local Republican candidates or your local Republican Committee. Even small contributions ($10, $25, $50) add up when many people participate. Visit https://www.ksqareagop.com/support-us to learn how to contribute.

If You Have 2-3 Hours Per Month

Walk your own neighborhood. You don't need special training to knock on your neighbors' doors and have friendly conversations about upcoming elections. Start with people you already know, then expand to the rest of your street. The local Republican committee can provide basic information about candidates if you want it, but your personal endorsement as a neighbor is what matters most.

Make phone calls from home. Phone banking sounds intimidating, but it's just having short conversations with other voters. You local Republican Committee can set you up with call lists and a simple script. You can do this from your couch while watching TV. Even calling for an hour or two per month helps.

Attend a campaign event. When Republican candidates hold town halls, meet-and-greets, or fundraisers, attend if you can. Your presence shows grassroots enthusiasm and allows you to meet the candidates personally. Check www.republicanccc.com, www.ksqareagop.com/events or candidate websites for event schedules.

Become a poll watcher or poll worker. Poll watchers observe and report potential issues at polling locations while poll workers play an official role in administering elections. Training is provided. Visit https://www.ksqareagop.com/volunteer to sign up.

Host a small gathering. Invite 5-10 neighbors to your home to meet a local Republican candidate. Informal house parties are incredibly effective for building support.

If You Can Commit More Time

Become a committee person. Every voting precinct needs Republican committee people who serve as the party's local representatives. Contact our Chair John James to learn about open positions in this area.

Join the Area 17 Republican Committee. Get involved with the local organized party structure. Visit https://www.ksqareagop.com/get-involved for information.

Volunteer for a specific campaign. Choose one candidate you're passionate about and volunteer regularly for their campaign. Tasks range from data entry to canvassing to social media management.

Help register new voters. Volunteer at community events, farmers markets, or festivals to register new Republican voters. The party provides training, materials, and voter registration forms. This is especially impactful during summer and early fall when community events are frequent.

Drive voters to the polls. On Election Day, some voters need rides to their polling location. Organizing or providing rides can help ensure every Republican vote is cast. Coordinate with local campaigns or the party committee.

To express an interest in volunteering, go to https://www.ksqareagop.com/volunteer and complete the form. A volunteer coordinator will be in touch.

Special Opportunities for Specific Groups

For parents: Attend school board meetings regularly and speak up on education issues. Organize other parents to do the same. Education is a winning issue when we engage authentically.

For business owners: Share your perspective on how policies affect small businesses. Write about the challenges of regulatory compliance, taxation, and the local business environment.

For retirees: You often have flexible schedules—consider becoming a regular volunteer for phone banking, data entry, or daytime canvassing. Your experience and wisdom are invaluable.

For young professionals: Engage your peers through social media, organize young professional networking events with political undertones, and help campaigns with digital strategy.

For veterans: Share your perspective on national security, leadership, and service. Veterans carry unique credibility that resonates across party lines.

The Issues That Matter Locally

As you talk with neighbors and decide how to get involved, focus on the issues that directly affect life in the Kennett Square area:

Property taxes: Many families are struggling with rising property tax bills. Republican candidates who support tax relief and fiscal responsibility need your support.

Education: Parents want excellent schools focused on academic achievement, not political agendas. They want transparency in curriculum and meaningful parental involvement.

Small business climate: Our local economy depends on small businesses like those on State Street in Kennett Square. Reducing regulatory burdens and keeping taxes reasonable helps these businesses thrive.

Public safety: Everyone wants safe neighborhoods and well-supported police departments. This shouldn't be a partisan issue, but Republicans have been strongest on backing law enforcement.

Economic opportunity: Young families want to afford homes, start businesses, and build a future here. Republican policies that promote growth and keep government lean help make that possible.

Infrastructure: From roads to water systems, our local infrastructure needs investment and smart planning. This is where competent local government matters most.

Finding Your Role

Not everyone can or should do everything. Think about what fits your life right now:

Time-constrained? Focus on voting, verifying your registration, and having conversations with people you already know.

Want to do more but not sure how? Start by attending one local Republican event. Meet people, learn what opportunities exist, and see what appeals to you.

Ready to jump in? Contact the Chester County Republican Committee, pick a candidate you're excited about, and ask how to help.

Not comfortable with direct political activity? Support Republican-aligned community organizations, attend township meetings as an interested citizen, and vote consistently.

The most important thing is to do something. Republican victories in 2026 won't come from a few highly dedicated activists—they'll come from thousands of regular people each contributing what they can.

What Success Looks Like

Imagine what happens if every Republican in the Kennett Square area does just one thing beyond voting:

  • If everyone who supports Republicans talks with three friends or neighbors, we reach thousands of additional voters.

  • If half of Republican voters donate $25, local campaigns would have the resources to reach persuadable voters.

  • If 10% of Republicans volunteer for just 2 hours per month, we have an unstoppable ground game.

  • If Republican voters turn out at high rates in 2026, we can win competitive races up and down the ballot.

That's not fantasy—it's basic math. The challenge is that most people assume someone else will handle it. They won't. It's on us. On you.

Starting Today

Here's your simple action plan:

This week: Verify your voter registration at www.pavoterservices.pa.gov. If you're not registered Republican, consider changing your registration so you can vote in the Republican primary on May 19, 2026.

This month: Sign up for updates from the Pennsylvania Republican Party (www.pagop.org) and follow the Chester County Republican Committee on social media. Have at least one conversation with a friend or family member about why you support Republican candidates.

This quarter: Attend at least one local Republican event, township meeting, or candidate forum (these will be posted at www.ksqareagop.com/events). Make a small donation to a candidate or the local party. Put up a yard sign when they become available.

This year: Commit to one ongoing action—regular volunteering, monthly donations, hosting a small event, or something else that fits your life.

The 2026 midterms will be here before we know it. History suggests midterm elections often favor the party not holding the presidency, but we can't assume anything. Chester County is competitive, and races will be decided by who shows up, who persuades their neighbors, and who works hardest between now and November 3, 2026.

You're not just a voter—you're part of the team that will determine whether Republicans win or lose in 2026. We need you. Not the political version of you that doesn't exist—the real you, with whatever time and energy you can offer.

Let's win this together.
